In 1751 Thoresby Hall in Budby, Nottinghamshire was owned by Evelyn Pierrepont the Second Duke of Kingston upon Hull. He had inherited the Hall and Estate from his grandfather in 1726 and some 25 years later he held races at Thoresby Park. It was a 2 day meeting held in October 1751 and on the first day, Friday 25th October, the Purse was won by Captain Monson’s Batchelor, while a competition Give and Take Handicap was staged on Saturday 26th October 1751 with the Duke of Kingston’s Squib getting the upper hand over the selections of Rober Viner and Lord Robert Sutton. There is no further evidence of organised meetings taking place on Thoresby Park at a future date. |
